A $10 item ever RVer should have

I buy a lot of gadgets, but I think this one is my new favorite.

In my last article, I talked about the problem I had with my lug nuts not being tight. I don't think it's necessary to check the lug nuts before every trip like it is to check the tire pressure, but I do think it's a good idea to check the lug nuts shortly after buying new tires.

Hopefully, I won't need to buy new tires for a long time, but now I have a way to check the lug nuts myself when I do.

Here is a picture of the lug wrench I bought on Amazon for $9.87 with free shipping.

The handle extends out to 18 inches, and it comes with four different sizes of sockets.

Here's the link to buy it on Amazon.

Five things I like about the lug wrench

  • It's heavy duty. It's a lot stronger than I expected.

  • One of the four sockets is a perfect fit for my lug nuts. (There are actually only two sockets, but there is a different size on each end, so you get four different sizes of sockets.

  • It's not a torque wrench, but in a way it is. When I extend the handle out to 18 inches and use all my strength, that comes out to be pretty close to the 165 pounds of torque specified for my motorhome.

  • As an added bonus, one of the sockets is a perfect fit for my oil drain plug. I was changing my oil yesterday and couldn't get the oil plug out using my vice grips. I checked and sure enough one of the sockets was an exact fit for the oil plug and with the handle extended to 18 inches, it was easy to get the oil plug out.

  • The wrench and the sockets fit in the plastic pouch for easy storage.

And of course, I like the $9.87 price and free shipping.
