New Floors and two days on the Road

For some people being on the road is the happiest part of the RV lifestyle. For others, that's the one part about RVing that they don't like.

I like all parts of RVing. I like days on the road, and I like time spent in the campgrounds or boondocking. Sitting there looking through an eight-foot wide and four-foot high windshield looking at the world as I go down the road is a great feeling.

Two days ago I arrived in Cedar Key, FL after driving for two days from the NC mountains. I spent the night near Savannah, GA in a Walmart parking lot on the way.

Getting to camp free is nice, but the best part about spending the night at a Walmart is that the next morning all I have to do is lower the TV antenna and drive off. It sure beats backing into a camping spot at a campground, getting everything hooked up and then having to unhook everything the next morning.

I drove about half of the way on the Interstates and about half of the way on the back roads. I like to mix it up.

I don't do much blogging about traveling and the places I visit. There are enough very good RV travel bloggers who can do a much better job of that than I can, but in the coming weeks, I will post one article about Cedar Key, FL.

It's a quaint little town that looks the way Florida did 50 years ago. There are no chain restaurants here (not even a McDonald's).

One of the things I like about Cedar Key is that it's a great place to relax and unwind. I have been working on consulting projects and staying busy this summer. Now I'm going to relax and spend time writing my next book. I hope to have it completed in January.

My new floors

Before I left for Florida I did a major upgrade on my motorhome. Actually, the effort was minimal, but the results were major. I ripped out all of the old carpet, and replaced it with hardwood flooring. I went with the Rustic Hickory vinyl flooring. To me, it looks so much cleaner, and the place even looks bigger.

The cost was $300 labor and about $350 for materials. I put the new flooring everywhere -- in the bedroom, bathroom, and all over. I used the top of the line vinyl flooring. I could have saved about $100 by using a lower grade of flooring. I'm happy with the results. That's what matters.

Here is a picture showing what it looks like.
