RVing in the Snow
Even though the title of this article is "RVing in the Snow," you know better than to expect to see a real article from me about RVing in the snow.
That's because I don't like snow. I don't even like cold weather. But what happens when you get caught in the snow? You resolve to never let it happen again.
The character, Sam, in the Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham said, "I don't like green eggs and ham." I think snow and cold weather are right up there with green eggs and ham. I don't like either one of them.
Sometimes when it gets really hot in the summer, maybe I would be happy with it being a few degrees cooler, but not much. I try to stay where it doesn't get really hot in the summer. Next week I'm headed further up the mountain to Boone, NC for two months where it will be cooler. I will be near 4,000 feet.
This picture of Kim Huber Buzman's camper in the snow looks so cozy it almost makes me think camping in the snow would be nice. But then I come to my senses and think, not me.
Kim loves camping in the snow, but I get cold just looking at that picture. Kim gave me permission to use the picture of her RV, and I have it in my book RVing Less Hassle--More Joy. I decided that the picture describes what I was talking about in this article.
You know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men
I did get caught in the snow the first year I had my RV. It snowed in the mountains in October, and I didn't leave for Florida until November. I haven't been caught in the snow since then.
Below is a picture shot looking out the windshield of my motorhome when I was in the NC mountains in October six years ago. I guess you could say that it looks pretty, but that's true only if you stay inside.
To me, this is a more realistic version of what camping in the snow looks like.
So if you want to see me during the winter months, you can find me somewhere in Florida with sunglasses on and my toes in the sand. I like to wear shorts and a tee shirt year round as much as possible. You can almost achieve that when you live in an RV.
Bottom line: I don't like green eggs and ham or snow.
