All you need to write is time to think

All you need to write is time to think

Is 2026 the year you will write your book

If you've ever thought about writing a book, 2026 is the year to do it.

You may think you can't write and that you should stick your quill back in the goose where it belongs.

But you can write. Just write as if you were talking to a friend. Don't try to be flashy.

Whether you're traveling in an RV, retired, going to school, or working full-time, you can find time to write your book if it's something you really want to do.

Amazon has changed their rules

AI-generated crappy books are flooding the market, and nobody is buying them. But there's a bigger demand than ever for high-quality books.

To reduce the number of AI-generated books, Amazon has had to set a limit on the number of books an author can publish. Now they allow you to publish a maximum of three books a day. People trying to publish several books a day explains why the market is saturated with crappy books.

Keywords are no longer the most important factor

One of the biggest differences this year is that sales, and not keywords, get your book ranked at the top of Amazon.

And of course, if your book doesn't rank near the top of the Amazon rankings where people can see it, you're not going to sell many books. Gone are the days when you could just stuff your book title and subtitle with keywords and get ranked high for those keywords and phrases.

In other words, in 2026, you have to write a good book about a topic that people are interested in, and that's easier today than before because you're competing with poorly written AI books.

The secret is demand, competition, and saturation

To write a successful nonfiction book, start by doing keyword research and finding keyword phrases people are searching for. In other words, find keyword phrases with high demand. Write your book about a topic that people are interested in.

You want to find a topic that's in high demand and doesn't have a lot of competition.

And finally, you want to find a topic that is not saturated.

Don't get overwhelmed by information

There are a lot of YouTube videos and books that will teach you each aspect of writing your book, but don't get so overloaded with information that you never start writing your book.

I've written several books that show you how to write both fiction and nonfiction books. You can download the eBooks for $3.99, or if you're signed up for Kindle Unlimited, you can download any of the eBooks for free.

A final thought. You're more likely to write your book if you have a cover designed before you do much writing. I know that doing that is contrary to conventional wisdom, but it works, and it will almost guarantee that your book will get written.

You can get a book cover designed for $10 on Fiverr.com, and you can easily change the title on your cover. You're not locked in with your first design or title.

Note: Even after your book is published, you can change the cover and make changes to the content, but you can't change the title or subtitle. So make sure you have a good title and subtitle that you're happy with before you publish your book.

Bottom line: You've accomplished a lot in your life, but have you written a book yet? Why not do it now? Would a few hundred dollars extra a month coming in for the next ten years or longer make your life easier? Your book needs to solve one problem for one person.
