Did you build forts when you were a kid?

I think all kids build forts.

Whether it was under a sheet in your bedroom, built out of cardboard boxes outside, or you built a treehouse, you built a fort.

Maybe that's why RVs and vans intrigue you now. There's something magical about having your own small space.

As the picture below shows, your special place could be small as long as it was your own space.

As you got older, I'm sure you built more elaborate forts.

Maybe you had a fort at one time that was more of a community project where you and your friends spent all summer building it.

Did you have a fort at some time that looked something like the treehouse shown below?

When you look back at the time you spent building and playing in forts when you were a kid, do you think that had something to do with your longing to live in an RV or van?

I didn't think about it at the time, but looking back, I'm sure it did for me. I spent a lot of fun time building and playing in forts. They were magical places where I could be in my own world.

That's how I feel when I'm in my motorhome.

I have some RVing friends who named their RV "The Fort" because it reminds them of being a kid and playing in a fort.

Bottom line: Playing in a fort and living in an RV or van have a lot in common. They both allow us to block everything out and be in our own world.
