Your life will never be the same
We hear the following expression all the time.
If you buy this book, or attend this seminar, or whatever, "Your life will never be the same."
Marketing people are implying that your life will be so much better. It seems like they're implying that any life would be better than the life you have now. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty happy about my life.
Maybe there are a few things I would like to change (I wish I could speak Spanish better, and I wish I could play old-time fiddle music better), but for the most part, I don't want to change anything.
If you really had the option and you could keep the life you have now or have the life of a random person, such as the life of the first person on page 100 of the phone book, would you be willing to make the switch? By the way, where would you find a phone book? Maybe it's on the floor holding the closet door open.
If I was in jail, or had cancer, I probably would be willing to exchange my life for some random person, and take my chances, but otherwise, I would keep he life I have.
But since the phrase, "Buy my product" and "your life will never be the same" is used so much, it must work. Is the average person that dissatisfied with their current life?
If you feel your life is like the movie, "Groundhog Day" and that you do the same thing every day--drive the same route to work every day, sit in the same cubical every day, and basically do the same work every day, maybe you do want to make some changes in your life.
After all, you are an individual
Since you are an individual, you have the option to live your life as an individual. If you want to live a more exciting, and adventurous life, you can do it. You just have to make the decision to do it, and then make it happen.Maybe you'll decide you want to live full-time in an RV. That's what I did almost eight years ago and I've never been happier. Maybe there's a different lifestyle you want to live. If so, take steps to make it happen.
Bottom line: If you keep doing the same thing you've always done, we all know what will happen.
