Your attitude about RVing

Your attitude about RVing

Your attitude about RVing (and life, in general), will determine if you're happy or not.

Obviously, the dog in the picture above is not happy. Maybe the car left, and he didn't get to go. I could think of a lot of things that could have turned his world upside down and made him unhappy.

But it probably wouldn't take much to change his attitude and make him happy. Take him for a walk, play fetch with him, give him a treat. There are a lot of things you can do to change his attitude and make him happy.

The same is true for you.

The key to being happy is to change your attitude

Here's an example from my latest book, The Truth About RV Living.

My friend, Camille Attell, wrote the following story for me to include in the book, which described a situation that happened in her RVing life.

Camille, her husband, Bryce, and their cat, Parker
Camille, her husband, Bryce, and their cat, Parker

Here's her story

"My husband and I were late getting into Dallas, Texas. It was pouring rain and pitch black in the RV park when we arrived. I stepped out of the coach to guide my husband into the RV space when--BLAMO--I plunged deep into inches of water. It was so cold and wet. My shoes and socks were fully submerged. In fact, because I'm only 5'2- it felt like I was waist-deep in a rushing river.

I looked up angrily into the rain when this feeling of pure joy washed over my body. I started laughing hysterically at how ridiculous it was that I was even annoyed. I mean here I was living my dream. This is what I signed up for!"

It's all a matter of attitude

If you could be happy in this situation, you could be happy in almost any situation.

If someone tells you to go take a hike

Don't be offended by what they said. Just go do it. You're probably in a confrontational or stressful situation. There's no better way to change your attitude and get back to enjoying life than to take a hike.

Your attitude about RVing

Even if no one tells you to go take a hike, consider telling yourself to go take a hike when you're feeling stressed, unhappy, worried, or frustrated. Taking a hike is one of the best ways on earth to clear your mind and change your attitude.

One of my favorite things to do is to take a hike. I especially like to take a hike when I can hike up a mountain and end up at a beautiful waterfall.

As an added bonus, I get my best ideas and come up with solutions to problems when I'm hiking. I almost never solve a problem when I'm sitting at my desk.

Bottom line: Your attitude is the key to enjoying the RVing life. If you're RVing, there are going to be problems. Things are going to break, reservations are going to get screwed up, and the list goes on and on. When things go wrong, remember what Camille said, "This is what you signed up for."
