I'm going crazy - you want to go?
It's guaranteed to be an exciting trip.
Sometimes I see things that make me think I'm going crazy--like the picture at the top of the page.
When you tell your friends you're going to sell everything and live in an RV, some of them will think you've gone crazy. Others will be sure.
Announcing your RVing plans
I've heard all kinds of stories from RVers about what the reactions were from their families and friends when they first told them they were going to sell everything and live in an RV.
One friend said when he told his friends that he was going to sell everything and live in a trailer, they didn't think it was such a big deal. He said, "After all, I live in south Alabama, and everybody I know lives in a trailer. The only difference is mine was going to have wheels."
Living in a tin can
The classic, shiny aluminum Airstream campers (like the one shown below) are lovingly called "tin cans" by a lot of the RVers who live in them, but not everyone is familiar with that term.
When one young woman, who had just bought an Airstream, told her parents (who were not familiar with the term "tin can") that she was going to sell everything and live in a tin can, you can imagine how that went over.
Airstream
By the way, even though Airstreams are called tin cans, they are quality built RVs. They hold their value better than any other RV, and over 70% of the Airstreams ever built are still on the road--including the ones built back in the 1930s.
Bottom line: If you're thinking about the idea of living full-time in an RV, get used to the fact that some of your family and friends will think you've gone crazy. Accept that, and enjoy the journey. You can tell them, "Yep, I'm going crazy. It's going to be a fun and exciting trip. You want to go with me?"
