Why you shouldn&##x27;t buy a new RV

Why you shouldn't buy a new RV

If you are looking to buy an RV, good luck. Some RV manufacturers are more than nine months behind.

That means that if they didn't receive another order for the next nine months, they would still have orders to fill.

Most RV manufacturers are not building RVs to send to dealers to go on their lot. They're busy building RVs that dealers have already sold. If you're waiting for an RV like the one you're looking for to show up on the lot, you may have a long wait.

Don't buy a new RV

In all of my books, I recommend that if you're buying your first RV, don't buy a new one. There are two problems with buying a new RV.

The first one is that if you're buying your first RV, you probably don't know much about RVs. The second problem is that even if you do a lot of homework and learn a lot about RVs, you don't know much about how you will be RVing in a year or so.

Almost all first time RV owners want a different rig after a year or two.

There's one additional reason not to buy a new RV. When you buy a new car, you can expect to not have to worry about anything going wrong with your new car for several years. Not so when you buy a new RV.

New RVs always have a lot of problems, and you'lll end taking them back to the dealership several times. These problems are usually covered under warranty, but they are still time consuming, and what if you're not near your dealer when something goes wrong? Don't expect a new RV to be reliable.

If you're buying a used RV, your goal should be to buy one at a good price. One that you can sell in a year or two and get all or most of your money back. You sure can't do that if you buy a new one. You'll take a big loss if you sell a new RV within a year or two.

Of course, used RVs are in short supply too right now, but if you do your homework, there are some bargains out there. Of course, you have to do enough research to be able to recognize a bargain when you come across one.

What new RVers need

If all of the people who are buying RVs would also buy a book about RVing, that would be great news for me. After all, I make my living selling RVing books. My monthly book sales are about twice what they were a few months ago, but they are still less than half of what they were before all of this mess.

The good news is that the monthly sales keep going up gradually. I'll take that. I know a lot of business owners who would be happy if their businesses were getting better every month.

If you're interested in a book about the RVing lifestyle, check out the list on the right side of this page. You can click on the picture of any book, and it will take you directly to the Amazon page where you can buy either the eBook or the printed book.

By the way, if you're not interested in an RV book, take a look at the list of books anyway. Maybe you'll become interested.

I know I'm plugging my books, but it's my website, so why can't I plug my books occasionally? Do something worthwhile today, and go buy a book.

Bottom line: RVs are in short supply right now because a lot of people have decided they want one. By the way, if you're dead set on buying a new RV and plan to start RVing next spring, you should put a deposit on one now. It will probably be next spring before it will be delivered.
