Uneventful trips

As you can tell from the picture above, I'm no longer in the mountains of North Carolina.

The leaves in the NC mountains in October are breathtaking, but it was starting to get cold, and it was time for me to head to a warmer place.

Now, I'm in a different world. I'm in Cedar Key, Florida. I'll be here until mid-Feb. Then I'll go back to Costa Rica for five months. At least, those are my plans, but my plans are always carved in Jell-O and are very shaky.

I spent the last two winters camping on the beach in Galveston, Texas, but I decided to go to Florida this year. It's a long drive from North Carolina to Texas, and with the price of gas, it was easy to decide to go to Florida this year.

On Wednesday of this week, I drove from Beaufort, SC (near Hilton Head Island, SC) to Cedar Key, FL, and absolutely nothing went wrong. It was an uneventful six-hour trip. When it comes to RVing, uneventful is always good.

Maybe things go wrong when you're RVing, so you'll appreciate the trips when nothing bad happens.

On recent trips, I've had new tires on my dolly blow out (three of them), turn signals on my dolly that stopped working, and I've had jacks that wouldn't retract, and I had to call a mobile RV tech. That was on a Sunday morning, so it was $150 extra on top of the regular service call. So, I was thrilled when my trip this week was uneventful.

Come to think of it, my trip last week from Banner Elk, NC, to Beaufort, SC, was uneventful also. I stopped in Beaufort for a few days to visit with my brother and his wife. We had a great time.

Bottom line: When you live and travel in an RV, you have to expect bad things to happen. Of course, sometimes, unexpectedly, good things happen. It's all part of the RV adventure.

P.S. In next week's article, I'll have information about the release of my upcoming book and how you can get a Free copy.
