RVers can get numb
I'm not talking about your backside getting numb after a long day of driving.
I'm talking about a different kind of numbness. Maybe numb is not the correct word. I'm talking about feeling mentally numb to all the wonderful things we get to see and do almost every day.
When you see beautiful and spectacular sights every day, after a while, they no longer seem spectacular. Whether you're camping in one spot for a few days or a few weeks, no matter how breathtaking the scenery is, after a while, you're longing to see and do something different.
How fantastic do you want your view to be?
If you could park your RV next to the rim of the Grand Canyon or next to Niagara Falls, how long would you want to camp there before you would be ready to go somewhere else?
I think the longing to see more and different things explains why we RVers like to travel. It explains the RVing feeling of "hitch-itch." Hitch-itch describes that urge we get to hitch up and go somewhere new after being in one place for a while.
All of this longing to see more and do more is a big part of why RVers love the adventure of traveling, but be sure to take the time to enjoy and appreciate everything you see and do.
I've heard RVers describe a place by saying, "It's nice, but it's not as beautiful as the last place we camped."
Just because one place is not as breath-taking as another, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it.
There can only be one place that's the most beautiful place in the world, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy and appreciate all of the other wonderful places there are to see and camp.
Bottom line: I could summarize this article by saying, "Don't forget to stop and smell the roses when you're RVing."
