A Dabbling Digital Nomad
Have you ever considered being a "Dabbling Digital Nomad"?
That's a term used to describe a digital nomad who has a home base.
I think in a way that would describe me. I'm a digital nomad in a foreign country for six months out of the year, and then I come back to the US to my home base—but my home base is not exactly what a lot of people would call a home base.
My home base is my motorhome, so my home base moves around. But it is a home base, and I have all of my stuff there.
It's hard to put a label on what I do or the way I live
When I'm in my motorhome, I'm still a digital nomad. I'm still doing the same type of work I do when I'm in a foreign country—writing and editing books.
Have you considered living a different lifestyle?
Have you thought about living full-time in an RV, moving to a foreign country, or living in two or three different places in your home country? Or how about downsizing, moving to a different part of the country, or living on a boat?Or maybe you could do a combination of all of these lifestyles—that's what I do. Take the time to think about your lifestyle, and if you decide your life is perfect and you don't want to change a thing, that's great.
Staying where you are and continuing to live your present lifestyle is also a valid choice
But if you decide to do that, make sure it's because that's what you want to do, and it's the lifestyle that will make you the happiest.
A lot of people continue to live the same lifestyle because they would rather live an unhappy life rather than an unknown life. Anytime you make a change, there are some unknowns. That's part of the adventure.
The bottom line: Whatever you do, make sure it's because you've considered all of your options and made a decision. Don't just continue living the way you're living now because it takes too much effort to change—or because of the fear of the unknown.
