Camping with a small rig
Here's the Secret to Happy RVing
After living full-time in my motorhome for almost 12 years, I've learned the one big secret to happy RVing.
It's not having a nicer rig or snagging the best campsite.
I'll reveal the real secret of how to experience the most enjoyment when you're living in an RV in a minute, but first, think about this.
Whether you live in your RV full-time or use it for an occasional weekend getaway, this one thing will make all the difference in the world in your enjoyment.
You can learn a lot about living the RV life by watching RVers pull into their campsite. I understand that sometimes people have been driving for several hours, and they're tired, both mentally and physically. But getting frustrated while you're getting set up doesn't help.
Could life be any better than this?
Consider the problems and the unexpected things that happen to be part of the adventure.
If your wood is wet and you have trouble getting your fire started, that's part of the adventure. If you want everything to be perfect, check into the Hyatt Regency or Hilton for the weekend.
The key to more enjoyable RVing is to lower your expectations
Can you see yourself being happy in the two situations shown in the pictures on this page?
When you're RVing, don't expect everything to be perfect (or even pretty good). Accept the fact that some things are not going to go according to plan. That's part of the adventure. Enjoy the journey.
Bottom line: Happiness is when reality is better than you expected. There are a lot of things about reality (such as the weather) that you don't have any control over, but you have total control over your expectations.
Note: I'll be on a cruise all next week and I'm not even going to take my computer with me.
