Expats can live anywhere.
Digital nomad or digital expat?
Being a digital expat is not the same as being a digital nomad.
Being a digital nomad is a hot trend and has become more popular since Covid.
Being a digital nomad is a great way to do a lot of traveling, but it's an inefficient way to get much work done. It's hard to be productive when you're traveling to a new location every few days or even every few weeks.
There's so much to see and do in any location. Why leave after only being somewhere for a week or even a month?
When you're a digital expat, you can experience all the joys of being a digital nomad without all the hassles and expenses of constantly packing up and moving.
Be a digital expat in your RV
There's so much to see and do in any place. Whether you want to travel to foreign countries or experience all the wonders the US has to offer when you're traveling in your RV, consider traveling less and seeing and doing more. I stay for at least three months when I'm in my motorhome.
Researching and finding the best prices for traveling and accommodations takes time. Traveling takes time, and you can't be immediately productive when arriving at a new place. It takes some time to adjust and find the closest grocery store, coffee shop, etc.
You'll need time to recover after a day of traveling. You can't expect to hit the ground and be fully productive after a day of traveling.
Trying to combine traveling and working is inefficient and not as enjoyable as it sounds. If you want to travel but need to do some work to pay for it, consider working for a while and then traveling for a while.
Spend several weeks or even several months in one place. Do a lot of work, make some money, and then do some traveling.
Bottom line: Being a digital nomad sounds glamorous and fun, traveling to exotic places all the time, but it's expensive and hard to be productive when you do this. Instead, consider being a digital expat and staying in one place for several months. That's what I do, and I love the lifestyle.
