Could you relax and live to be 100 here?

I'm back in the US

I'm not back yet, but I will be by the time you read this article.

I've been in Costa Rica for almost six months. The time went by super fast. I hate to be leaving all the beautiful birds, coffee, and bananas, and most of all, I will miss always having weather in the mid-70s year-round and all day long.

The temperature does not shock my system when I get up in the mornings and walk out on my balcony with my cup of coffee. I always wear shorts and a T-shirt.

Maybe the friendly people will be the thing I miss the most. Of course, I won't be missing any of these things for long because I'll be back soon.

Living near a Blue Zone, where a high percentage of the population lives past 100, may have its benefits. I'm not right in a Blue Zone, but I'm close. Maybe I should move closer as I get older.

I have a neighbor, Jeff, who lives here in Costa Rica part of the time, but last week, he left for a few months. He plans to spend a month in Ireland, a month in France, and two months in Italy. Then, he will spend two weeks during Christmas in the US with his children before coming back to Costa Rica.

He's 84, but he does a lot of hiking. He's physically fit and sharp as a tack. It looks like living close to a Blue Zone works well for him.

Bottom line: There are a lot of ways to live your life. Spend some time and think about how you would like to live your life. What lifestyle would make you truly happy? When you live like a local, you can live in a lot of places for way less than it's costing you to live the lifestyle you're living now. It's something to think about.
