I love living in paradise

Living a simple life

I'm officially living full-time in Costa Rica now.

Living in paradise is as wonderful as it sounds. It's easy to be happy and productive here.

I enjoyed my 13 years of RV living, but I was ready to do something different.

My cost of living here is about half what it costs me to live in RV campgrounds, and the weather here is perfect.

Of course, when you're living in the rainforest, you can expect it to rain for six months out of the year, but even then, you have bright blue skies and sunshine until noon every day, and then it rains in the afternoon.

It was a long, major ordeal to reduce everything I own down to two 27-gallon tubs that I could carry as checked luggage on an airline, but I made it.

The surprising thing is that I think I could eliminate one of the two tubs I brought with me. It amazes me how little stuff I need.

I have sold my car and dolly and left my motorhome with an RV consignment company to sell it. I even emptied my storage unit. I should have done that years ago.

I brought everything I own with me, which is mainly computers, a large-screen monitor, video equipment, and a few clothes and books.

You would think it would be impossible to accumulate a lot of stuff when you're living in a motorhome, but after 12 years, I was amazed at how much stuff I had accumulated. For example, I had several pairs of shoes (that I never wore), but now I only have one pair that I wear every day. That's it.

I had a lot of tools and equipment. Most of it was good and useful stuff, and I hated getting rid of many of the items. I didn't want just to trash the items. I sold some things and gave a lot of stuff away.

It's a wonderful feeling not being burdened by a lot of stuff.

I've only been here for a week, but it already feels like home. I went to the grocery store yesterday, and it surprised me that I knew where to find everything I needed.

I couldn't even do that in Banner Elk, NC, or Cedar Key, FL, where I had been camping for the last few months. I've been coming to Costa Rica for a few months, most years, for the last 16 years, so I guess it should feel like home.

Now that I'm all moved in and unpacked, I can start making progress on my content creation projects. I plan to write more books, create courses, and maybe post some videos.

Bottom line: Living a simple life without a lot of extra stuff will allow me to be much more productive, and I love the relaxing lifestyle. Now, I can start changing the website and creating content you'll find helpful and enjoyable.
