Maybe you don't want to take a risk and move here
Scariest thing you've done?
What's the scariest thing you've ever done?
Making a major change in your life, such as quitting your job, moving abroad, making a change in your relationship, or maybe doing all of these things at once, would certainly qualify as a major change.
Making a change or getting out of your comfort zone is always scary. We humans don't like the unknown or surprises. We crave known outcomes.
Bad is better than the unknown for many people
People often prefer a bad or unhappy situation to the unknown—that is, until it gets too bad or they get braver.
But as Helen Keller said, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure.”
What changes would you make in your life if you knew for sure that you would be happier in the long run after you made the change? Of course, you can never know for sure, so you have to decide whether you think the benefit of making the change is worth the risk.
I assume that until now, you've decided that the benefits are not worth the risks since you haven't made the change.
You can never go back home
Below is a link to a video of Dr. Ralph Stanley and his son singing the song, Rank Strangers to Me that describes his experience of going back home. It's so true. Listen carefully to the words of the song, and you'll realize that even if you did go back home, things won't be the same.

If you go back, things will never be as you remember them
The problem with making a change is that you can never completely go back to how things used to be.
Sure, you could move back to the same town, maybe even move back into the same house. You might be able to go back to the same relationship or get the same job back (but probably not on either of those). Even if you did, things would never be completely like they used to be.
What about you? Are there some changes you've been considering making in your life, but you haven't made the changes because you're not sure what the outcome would be?
Making a major change in your life is scary. What might be even scarier is the idea of waking up five years from now and finding yourself in the same situation you're in now.
Bottom line: The fact that you have so many options is what makes life so difficult (and so interesting). Changes have consequences, and we never completely know the outcome until we change something.
