40% will never come back

The "Shark Tank" star, Kevin O'Leary, said recently that 40% of the workforce will never come back to the office.

Being a digital nomad is a trend that's here to stay. (Even though Elon Musk is demanding that his Twitter employees all come back and work in an office in San Fransico. Good luck with that plan.)

Since he's willing to pay a lot, he won't have any trouble getting enough employees that will come to the office to work, but he may lose many of his best and brightest.

The "work from home" trend is here to stay, and that's great news for RVers

This means that RVers don't have to wait until they retire before they can live and travel as full-time RVers. There are now plenty of jobs that can be done while living full-time in your RV.

Not all companies like "work from home"

In addition to Elon Musk making his employees come back to the office or lose their jobs, this week, Amazon employees staged a one-hour walkout to protest Amazon's push to bring workers back into the office.

There are presently 35 million digital nomads, and that's up from about 11 million in 2020. You can be a digital nomad in Bali, Costa Rica, or Kansas.

You don't have to always travel the world to be a digital nomad.

Rolf Potts, one of the most famous digital nomads in the world, wrote the every-popular book, Vagabonding—An Uncommon Guide to the Art of Long-term Travel 20 years ago, and it's still popular today. He now lives in a small farmhouse on a 30-acre farm in rural north-central Kansas.

Timothy Ferriss wrote the book The 4-Hour Work Week. This book opened people's eyes to the concept of traveling around the world and working part-time. He now lives in Austin, Texas.

Tim and Rolf both still travel a lot, but they like having a home base. These two examples show that there's no one right way to be a digital nomad.

A battle is shaping up, and I think Kevin O'Leary is right that 40% of employees will not be coming back to the office.

Bottom line: Obviously, some employees will have to change jobs and work for another company, but it looks like many of them are going to do whatever they have to in order to not have to work in an office.
