Changes in Attitudes
There's wisdom in a song.
There's especially a lot of wisdom in Jimmy Buffett's popular song, "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes."
You don't have to visit a tropical beach to change your attitude and live a happier and more relaxed lifestyle.
I'm sure it would help, but you can live a more relaxed life right where you are.
Here are the five things you need to do
- Spend your time with upbeat people. Stay away from negative people. They will pull you down in a hurry. Some people become negative as they get older. It's understandable. They hurt all over, things are not going as they planned, and they can't find anything to be happy about. If that describes you, then you need to change your attitude immediately.
- It's important to exercise. Go to the gym, hike, or do some form of strenuous exercise. You can't be happy if you're not in shape. It's better to be the oldest person in the gym than the youngest person in a nursing home.
- Eat healthy. We all know how to do this. Cut out the bad stuff and eat the good stuff. If your grandmother doesn't know what it is or you can't pronounce the ingredients, it's probably not good for you.
- Spend some time around young people. I don't mean hang out with them late at night. I mean, talk to them and be around them some. They're usually lively, upbeat, and being around them will help you look at life differently.
- Spend some time in nature. Hiking is a great way to do this, but sitting on a park bench and watching nature is better than spending all your time sitting inside on the couch.
If you do these five things, you'll soon see your attitude change. And of course, if you can spend some time in your happy place, that will help too.
Do you think there are any of these five things you can't do if you decide to do them?
