A $7 Must-have RV Gadget
Being an engineer, I love gadgets.
At least, I blame the fact that I love gadgets on me being an engineer. (With the money I spend on gadgets, I have to blame it on something.) Whatever the reason, I love gadgets.
The problem with gadgets is that some of them can get extremely expensive, and even if they're not expensive, if you buy enough of them, the cost still runs up.
Here is one of my all-time favorite gadgets and the cost was less than $7. It's a small, battery-powered, motion sensing LED lighting strip. Below is a link to it on Amazon. This is not an affiliate link.

Well, it can get a little more expensive than $7. You have to buy a pack of three of them for $18.99, and then each one of them needs four AAA batteries.
Update: After I bought my LEDs I did find that you could buy just one of the LED strips for $7.99. You can find it at the link below:

In this first picture, you can see the LED lighting strip in the top left corner of the picture. It's about eight inches long. The 10 LEDs are not on in this picture, but the flash makes it easy to see inside of the cabinet. It normally looks dark in there.
Mounting is easy. A magnet with sticky tape is provided. You just stick the magnet where you want it (and you can unstick it and move it). Then the LED assembly is held in place by the magnet. This makes it easy to remove the LED assembly to replace the batteries.
In the picture below, you can see how dark the pantry is without the light.
In this picture, you can see how bright my pantry is when the LEDs are on.
The $7 gadget that ended up costing me $48
As sometimes happens when I start looking at gadgets, the $7 gadget ended up costing me $48. Here's what happened. The LED lights come in packs of three. I have six compartments in my kitchen pantry, so naturally, I needed two packs. And then I needed batteries. I did find a pack of 36 AAA alkaline batteries for $9.99. That's a total of $47.97. Oh well, thanks to Amazon Prime, I did get free shipping.
By the way, the motion-sensing LEDs usually come on when I open the cabinet door, but if not, they come on as soon as I put my hand anywhere near the opening. They go out 15 seconds after I close the door and no more motion is detected.
Bottom line: Every time I open one of my pantry doors, I'm thankful for my motion sensing LED lights. This is one of the best $7 (I meant $48) I've spent recently.
