A converted bus and a changed lifestyle
Zach and Shauna bought a bus, named it Lady Buster, totally remodeled it, and then left the corporate rat race and are now living full-time on the road.
Shauna has a masters degree and was working in the corporate world. Zach had just returned from a tour of military service and they wanted more out of life than what they were experiencing living a traditional life in a little town in Illinois.
Here's their story
I met them in Cedar Key, Florida this past Feb. where they were camping for a couple of months to enjoy the warm weather. Zach was doing some workcamping chores at the campground in exchange for free camping and Shauna was working a few hours a week in the campground cafe and was receiving a small salary.
This summer they have jobs lined up to work in Colorado and then they were going to do some sugar beet harvesting in North Dakota before finishing out the year working at Amazon. Finding jobs to support their new lifestyle turned out not to be a problem.
They thought about getting a conventional motorhome, but their converted Blue Bird bus has character and a powerful diesel engine that will most likely run forever. It's one unique motorhome.
They spent about five months totally remodeling it. On the outside it still looks like a bus, but the inside is a work of art.

If you're wondering where the name of their blog, Bellingham By Bus, came from, that was their original plan--take the bus and move to Bellingham, WA, but after they got a taste of RV life on the road, that plan went out the window.
As you can see from the picture below, they are two happy, young RVers.
I think they enjoyed remodeling the bus almost as much as they're enjoying living the RVing lifestyle.
They still have a few more renovations they want to do to Lady Buster, but it's already one fancy bus with the new hardwood floors, wood paneling on the ceiling, new appliances, solar panels on the roof, new tires, bright, colorful curtains, plus a lot more.
