Are You Still Undecided About RVing?
My guess is that you've already been indoctrinated somewhat about how wonderful the RVing lifestyle is.
It is wonderful, at least, a lot of people say it is, but that's not the whole story. Let me start with some of the not so fun and glamorous things about the RVing lifestyle that no one has told you about.
Here are some of the things that are not so wonderful about RVing
• If you like to work on things, there is always something on an RV that needs to be fixed. If you don't like to work on things, there is still always something on an RV that needs to be fixed.
• There's no way around it. You can't take all of your stuff with you. You have to get rid of a LOT of things.
• Face it. There is not a lot of space in an RV. It's a totally different way to live.
• All RVs depreciate, and new ones depreciate fast.
• Medical care can be expensive if you're not old enough to be on Medicare and you travel and stay out of network a lot.
• For some people, constantly being away from friends, family, (especially grandkids) can be a big problem. And for some people, it's a deal killer.
• For most people, when they become full-time RVers, they have to learn to get by with less income. If you like to go shopping, buy a lot of new clothes, and always have the latest gadgets, the RVing lifestyle might not be worth the sacrifices required to live the lifestyle.
One last point: If you start living the RVing lifestyle and then decide that you don't like it, my guess is that you will not want to go back to the lifestyle you're living now. You're ready for a change.
Bottom line: It's true that the RVing lifestyle is not all rainbows, sunsets, and margaritas, but enough of it is that after living full time in my RV for six years, I wouldn't want to go back to living in a stick and brick house, condo, or apartment. No way. (And I don't even like margaritas.)
