Sometimes you can't wait

Don't get between a dog and a fire hydrant

Do you sometimes feel you're stuck between a dog and a fire hydrant?

Unfortunately, that describes life sometimes. We've all been there. Maybe you feel like you're stuck there now.

When you're in that situation, you feel you already know the outcome. You're just wondering how long it's going to last.

While you're complaining about your situation, someone may ask you, "What are you going to do about it?" Your answer may be, "There's nothing I can do about it."

But that's not true

In almost all cases, there are things you can do. They're just things you don't want to do, or your actions won't give you the ideal results you want.

In most cases, making a decision and going with a solution that's less than perfect is way better than doing nothing and letting a situation control you. In other words, make a decision and move on.

When I hear someone complaining about their situation, it reminds me of a modified version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Baby Bear said, "Somebody ate my porridge." Papa Bear said, "Somebody ate my porridge." Mama Bear said, "Bitch, bitch, bitch. I haven't even poured it yet."

When you're complaining about a problem, make sure it's a real problem and not just an imaginary one.

On a more positive note. When Shakespeare said, "Beware the ides of March", maybe he was talking about the fact that March 15th is when corporate income taxes are due. I got mine filed this week, so all is well.

Bottom line: When you see a problem coming, don't just complain about it, take action and do something about it. Almost all problems have solutions. Don't choose to do nothing just because you can't see an ideal solution. In most cases, complaining and doing nothing is the worst of all your options.
