You may not have as much sand left in your hourglass as you think
Don't wait for someday
How many grains of sand are still in your hourglass?
You never know, but you could find out any day that you don't have as much time left as you thought.
Last week, my son found out he has prostate cancer, and it has spread to his bones. There's not much you can do for bone cancer.
We're all one doctor's visit or one lab test away from devastating news. We could find out any day that we're not as healthy as we thought we were.
Don't put off the things you want to do until someday. You (or your spouse) may not have a someday. Regardless of how healthy you are, unpredictable accidents can happen at any time.
Enjoy each day of your life
I don't mean you shouldn't plan, save, and prepare for the future, but don't live your life saying or thinking, "I'll be happy when . . ."
Don't say, I'll be happy when the kids are out of the house, or when my mortgage is paid off, or when I retire. You may find that these things don't automatically bring you the happiness you were expecting.
Be happy today and enjoy each day.
If there's something you plan to do someday, think about it. Is there a good reason you can't do that now?
One last thought: "The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones." ~ William Shakespeare
