Having hope in a pandemic
Having hope is a normal human trait.
It keeps us going, even in bad times. But being optimistic and hopeful during these trying times is not always easy.
Every day I put on my rose-colored glasses and head off into the future with my eyes wide open, and with expectations, that because of the pandemic, I know I shouldn't have.
I constantly ask myself, when is this craziness going to end? When can I get back to Margaritaville where everybody is relaxed, and there are no problems?
Jimmy Buffett hasn't had a hit single since 1977, but his concerts are always sold out a year in advance.
Why do Jimmy Buffett concerts still sell out?
In a recent interview Jimmy said that it's because people are taking themselves much too seriously now. They're looking for an excuse to be a little crazy. They want to get out of the real world and not take life so seriously. That's what a Jimmy Buffett concert allows people to do.When he was asked if he was ever going to retire he said, "From what?" That's the job and lifestyle everybody dreams about.
I think that's a big part of why the RVing lifestyle is so enticing. People want to get away from the rat-race and the stress of their day-to-day lives.
Who wouldn't want to spend a little time being on the beach enjoying the carefree lifestyle Jimmy describes in his songs?
You're always free to move
But it's so much easier to move when you're living in an RV. When you live in an RV, you can spend time in Key West near Margaritaville. You can camp by a stream in the mountains. You can camp beside the Grand Tetons or the Grand Canyon. You don't have to stay in one place. That's what I like best about the lifestyle, the freedom to move to somewhere new anytime. Regardless of how wonderful a place is, I get tired of it, and I'm ready to move somewhere else after a short time. That's hard to do if you're living in a sticks and bricks home.
If you want to live in Margaritaville, maybe you should take a trip there and look around. You might just fall in love with the place. You won't find it on Google maps, but it's there. It's easier to find if you're in an RV. When Jimmy Buffett was asked, "Where is Margaritaville?" His answer, "When you're there, you will know it."
Bottom line: What are your dreams? How close are you to living your dream? What steps are you taking to make living your dream a reality?
