Jobs fill your pocket. Adventure fills your soul
To make matters worse, for a lot of people, jobs don't fill their pockets because they use all the money they make from their jobs to buy more things.
The title of this article is a quote from Jaime Lyn Beatty. She's a popular singer, and obviously, she understands the world better than a lot of people.
I remember two teenagers taking one time and one of them was complaining about being broke. The other one said, "I wish I could get back to broke." In other words, he was in a hole.
If you don't have a job, you can go broke, but if you do have a job, you have credit (or can get it) and you can go into debt.
You do have an option
Most people get a job, work hard, make money, buy things and then lather, rinse, and repeat. They have been told over and over (and now they believe it) that the key to being happy is to work harder, so they can make more money, and buy more stuff. A lot of people are happy playing this game, but it's important to realize that in most cases, you do have an option. You can work less and buy fewer things.
Had you rather have things or adventures and experiences?
Maybe the sign below is not in your office, but it could be in your head. Take a close look at the picture and you can see a cord going to the sign. That means you can unplug it--even if the sign is in your head.
Grandpa and his mules
My grandpa had a team of mules for as long as I can remember. He mainly used the mules to plow his corn and grow a crop of hay. Of course, the reason he needed the corn and hay was to feed his mules. In a way, that's not too much different from what a lot of people do now. They have a job so they can earn money to make payments on a car. They need to car so they can drive to and from work.
Most full-time RVers have found that they are much happier working less, cutting their overhead way down, and having fewer things. They are enjoying more adventures and experiences. Those are making them a lot happier than all the things they thought would make them happy.
Bottom line: Realize that in most cases, you do have a choice. Give it some thought and decide if all the hard work you're doing so you can buy things is making you happy. If not, consider changing your life and your priorities. How about living in an RV? That's an option.
