Kids, dogs, and the coronavirus
Unlike adults, many kids and dogs are enjoying this coronavirus shutdown.
Maybe teenagers are not happy having to stay at home and not being able to go out or see their friends, but little kids and dogs are glad to be getting so much extra, undivided attention. I'm sure your dog loves having you around all the time.
Having a dog would put a damper on my life
I've had a dog most of my life, but I don't have one now that I'm living in an RV. One of the main things I like about living the RVing lifestyle is the freedom I enjoy. Having a dog would add a lot of enjoyment to my life, but having a dog would also take away a lot of freedom.
If I had a dog, I would have to be back to the RV every few hours to take him out. Also, having a dog now that I'm out of the country for three months would present a problem. Back in the old days (a month ago) when I could fly somewhere for a week or the weekend, it would be more of a hassle if I had a dog.
As I said, I don't have a dog right now, but I get to keep my brother's dog from time to time. I dog-sit either at his house or bring the dog to my motorhome. The dog and I both have a good time. The dog enjoys it, and I enjoy having him around. I kept the dog for most of the whole month of February while my brother and his wife went to Spain.
Grandkids give you the best of both worlds
You can enjoy them, play with them, spoil them, and then send them back home. I don't have any grandkids, but I enjoy being around kids. Kids are happy, upbeat, and full of enthusiasm, and of course, full of energy.
How about taking your grandkids to enjoy a sunrise or a sunset. They will remember that forever. Parents don't have time to do this, but now you do. Take advantage of this opportunity.
And of course, be sure to take your dog (or their dog) with you. They will enjoy the outing too. Kids like it when you include their dog in activities.
Two things that don't lie are kids and yoga pants
Enjoy their truthful observations of what's going on in the world from their point of view. Don't be negative. Let them know that everything is going to be alright.
Bottom line: Take this time to enjoy your kids or grandkids. And by all means, don't make them feel like they're in the way, or causing you problems (even if they are). Enjoy the time you have with them.
