Notice and Enjoy, Rather Than Search

Many RVers spend most of their time searching.

They're searching for the best campsite, the prettiest waterfall, the best hiking trail, and on and on.

In the process, they miss so much because they never notice the things around them.

A lot of sayings cover this point. One that comes to mind is, "Stop and smell the roses." That's another way of saying, "Stop and notice what's in front of you, rather than continuing to search for something better."

With today's gas prices, you have another big reason to spend time enjoying the things around you. It gets expensive to be on the go constantly.

Update on my bout with COVID

After two days of taking the five-day regiment of Paxlovid pills, I didn't have any more symptoms. I finished the five-day regiment, and it's as if I never had COVID. That's a big relief compared to what could have happened.

All of the 80-year-old people I know who have tested positive for COVID are now dead. That's just a fact.

I will take it easy for a few more days and stay quarantined. Even though I don't think I'm contagious now, I don't want to risk exposing anyone else to COVID.

I'm in a great place to stay isolated. I'm staying in my brother's motorhome, parked in his driveway next to the intercoastal waterway near Beaufort, SC. It's between Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA.

Below are pictures of where I'm staying.

Soon, I'll get my motorhome out of storage and head up the mountain to Banner Elk, NC, for the summer and fall, but I'm in no hurry to leave this beautiful place.

I think the Paxlovid pills worked miracles. You have to start taking the pills within five days of your first symptoms, so it's vital that you get tested as soon as you think you might have COVID symptoms. I used a home test kit, and when it showed positive for COVID, I immediately scheduled an appointment the next day to see a doc-in-a-box at CVS to get tested and get a prescription for the pills.

Bottom line: As the title of this article says, I'm going to enjoy this area for a while rather than taking off in search of someplace better. There's another reason I won't be leaving immediately. My brother and his wife have gone on a three-week Viking River Cruise in Europe, and I'm going to stay here, and house sit and dog sit while they're gone.
