Thanksgiving morning sunrise on the beach in Galveston, TX
Where did you spend Thanksgiving?
I assume everybody had a nice Thanksgiving and survived.
The picture at the top of the page shows my motorhome on the beach in Galveston, Texas. That's where I was last Thanksgiving. This year I'm in Cedar Key, Florida. I left my RV parked in the campground and drove up to the coast of SC, and spend Thanksgiving with my brother and his wife.
Other than spending Thanksgiving with my brother and his wife, the second best part of my Thanksgiving weekend was finding gas in south Georgia for $2.84 a gallon. When I got back to Florida, it was $3.79 a gallon. It has come down a little since then.
I didn't buy a single thing on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I think that's a first for me. When you live in an RV, you don't have room for a lot of "stuff." That hasn't stopped me in the past, but I couldn't think of anything I needed (or even wanted) this year.
Since Thanksgiving is over, it's time to start thinking about Christmas, and after that, it will be time to start thinking about New Year's resolutions and plans for the coming year.
What are your plans for the coming year?
I don't make New Year's resolutions, and I don't have a bucket list, but I always have projects I want to finish in the next few months. Maybe that's the same thing.
Bottom line: It's good to take a break from projects and problems and spend time with family from time to time. RVers have a lot of freedom to do that, but sometimes we get in a rut and forget what's important.
P.S. If you are an early bird and opened my Tip of the Week last Saturday morning and then clicked on the link I provided to the week's article, you found it didn't work. I forgot to make the article active until about mid-morning. So, if you want to see last week's article, click on the link below.
