The basic steps to writtng a book

What I like best about deadlines is the swooshing sound they make when they go by.

My latest book (shown above) is finally finished and available on Amazon. Here is a link to the ebook and the printed book on Amazon.

The basic steps involved in writing and publishing a book are simple. You write the book, proofread and edit it, format it, and then publish it. But there's one thing left out of this simple process.

After you do all of the above steps, you have to edit and proofread it again, and then do it again, and then do it again. I sometimes think the process never ends. I guess it depends on how much of a perfectionist you are.

After going through the endless proofreading and editing process, and getting the ebook and printed book published (I just published a revised version today), a reader found another mistake.

In Chapter 14 I make the comment when talking about Medicare saying that I would cover that in more detail in Chapter 14. The problem is that I'm in Chapter 14 when I say that--duh. Having a missing comma is not so bad, but mistakes like that make me look stupid. I guess I am, but I hate to broadcast the fact to the whole world.

I'll wait and see if I find anything else before I make the revision and re-submit it to Amazon.

One RVing friend said after reading the book, "I've experienced most of the bad things in the book. I could have written that book." If you're already RVing, I'm sure you'll find several things in the book you can identify with. Some of the true stories are downright funny. As Mark Twain said, "Everything is funny as long as it's happening to somebody else."

Bottom line: Now I need to get busy promoting the book. One of the most important parts of promoting the book is getting reviews. Amazon values early reviews more than reviews that are posted later, so if you have time, I would really appreciate it if you buy the book and leave me a review. The ebook is only $3.99.
