The rise of RV popularity

It's vacation time, and a lot of people are going on adventures without leaving home because they're taking their home with them.

They've found that they can have it both ways. They can get away from it all while staying home. They can explore public spaces and still avoid public bathrooms.

Owning an RV is allowing people to enjoy a social-distancing vacation, while avoiding the worries of COVID-19.

In June of 2020, RV sales across the industry were up 90% from June of 2019. Sales of the popular, shiny, aluminum Airstream campers were up 110%.

When you travel in an RV you can forget about face masks, crowded airports, airplanes, and hotel rooms (that may or may not have been thoroughly cleaned).

RVing doesn't mean you're roughing it

Many RVs come with things you may not even have in your home or apartment. Things such as heated floors, washer/dryers, electric or propane fireplaces, and electric recliners. Of course, all of this comes at a price.

Some of the most popular camper trailers start at around $15,000, but the larger Class A motorhomes with all the extras can cost ten times that much or more. Buying used can cut these prices in half (and maybe even by as much as 90%) depending on the age and condition of the RV.

You can make it happen

The new trend of working from home has opened up the option to live and travel (full-time or part-time) in an RV. If the kids are going to be attending school from home and parents are going to be working from home, there's no reason home can't be an RV.

Now with high-speed Internet available almost everywhere, many RVers are making a full-time income, and covering all of their expenses by running their own online businesses while living in their RV. It's never been easier to get a job or run a business while living full-time in your RV. The world is changing.

An example of paradise

Below is a picture of the view behind my motorhome where I'm parked now in Banner Elk, NC. This is just an example of what you can have for your backyard when you're RVing.

By the way, when much of the US is experiencing temperatures in the mid-90s this summer, the high temperature here today was 72 degrees. One of the many advantages of living the RV lifestyle is that you can follow comfortable weather around all year long. Imagine living where the temperature was always in the mid-70s. You can, you just have to move around.

Bottom line: No wonder monthly RV sales are almost double what they were last year. Both young families and retired people are realizing that they can stay safe, travel, and have the adventure of a lifetime in an RV.
