What is AI good at and bad at?
Since AI is here to stay, I've been playing with it to see what I can learn about it.
I wanted to find out what AI could do really well and what it couldn't do.
I've found that AI is way better at some tasks than I expected, and a lot worse than I expected in others.
To learn more about AI, I tested it in several areas. AI's performance surprised me in some areas, while its performance disappointed me in others.
I still have a lot to learn about using AI, and AI still has a lot to learn as well.
Here are some examples
It used the British spelling "grey" instead of the American spelling "gray."
It talked about someone dealing with jet lag after flying from San Jose, Costa Rica to Toronto, Canada. It's a five-and-a-half-hour nonstop flight in the same time zone. There can't be any jet lag.
I've found AI to be way better than I expected when creating or modifying images. I've seen it take two or three prompt statements and create detailed images that capture exactly what I wanted.
I've also found it to be better than I expected in developing and expanding plots and writing dialogue.
Overview
I can see AI eliminating a lot of graphic artists' jobs, such as designing book covers, creating thumbnail images for YouTube videos, and creating A+ content for Amazon listings, etc.It would be nice if it could also do a good job of proofreading and editing manuscripts and articles. As of now, I think it can do this work somewhat, but not nearly well enough to replace a skilled person completely.
AI is learning and getting better at a rapid pace. I've seen it do things this week that it couldn't do last week.
Bottom line: I have found that AI does an outstanding job on some of the tasks that I thought would be hard for an AI program to do, and then it screws up some things I thought would be easy for it to do. And it's way more creative than I would have expected.
