Why your store doesn't have any toilet paper

It's all in Costa Rica.

I took the picture at the top of this page this morning in a grocery store in Costa Rica. In addition to a whole row of shelves being fully stocked with toilet paper, there was a pallet of toilet paper at the end of this aisle ready to be put on the shelves as soon as there was room.

I'm in Costa Rica for the next two and a half months

And no, I didn't bug out. I planned this trip a year ago. I've been here for almost three weeks. I'm not in a big city. I'm up on the side of a mountain away from people. I can see the airport and the city of San Jose down in the valley 50 miles away, but there are only half a dozen people anywhere near me.

It's probably one of the best places in the world to be right now to keep from getting the virus. I have enough food stockpiled so I won't have to go into town for two months or longer, but unless things get worse here, I'll probably go to the Friday farmer's market a few times. We shall see. I like all the fresh fruits and veggies they have here.

There are not many reported cases of the virus in Costa Rica as of now, but they're not taking any chances. Most of the schools are closed. The bars are all closed, and the restaurants are only offering take-out food.

No one else can come to Costa Rica

On top of all of those precautions, starting tonight (3-18-20), no one can come into the country except returning citizens.

I hear a lot of people on social media freaking out about having to stay away from everyone and especially the people who are told to self-quarantine and stay away from everybody for two weeks, are complaining.

If you can't stand your own company, why should other people have to put up with you?

I'm just joking, but take the time to enjoy your own company and enjoy not being around other people. Of course, if you have a spouse, three kids, and a dog, in your house, you might not have much alone time.

Bottom line: Look on the bright side. Think about what you could accomplish with two weeks of totally uninterrupted time. There are a lot of books you could read. You could even make great progress on writing a book in two weeks. With access to the Internet and YouTube, there are all kinds of skills you could learn. You could make great progress on learning a foreign language. There are so many options of what to do with two weeks of extra time.
