You're one decision away from changing your life
Does this picture make you think of freedom?
Freedom is what you get when you start living the life you want to live, and instead of living the life, people and society are telling you that you should live. Maybe you're already living your dream life, but if you were, you probably wouldn't be reading this article.
Living in an RV is one of the ways a lot of people have found that they can live their dream and experience freedom. When you're living in an RV, you're free to go anywhere, do anything, or stay put and do nothing for a while.
A lot of people dream about living a different life
They dream about a different life, but they never make a decision to do it. Of course, in addition to making that one decision, they also have to make things happen. Many people make a decision to do something and then never take any action to make it happen.
A lot of people say to me, "I would love to live the life you're living one day." Most of them are never going to do it because they're never going to make a decision.
Here's one comment I hear a lot
"I could never live in an RV. I have too much stuff." They say it with the same conviction that they would say one leg is longer than the other one. They act like they were born with all of that stuff, and there's nothing they can do about it.It's not that I'm trying to convince people to live the lifestyle I'm living. I think most people wouldn't be happy living this lifestyle.
But I do think they should be honest with themselves and realize that they could live this lifestyle if they wanted to. I've said many times that I believe fear is keeping most people from living the RVing lifestyle.
The RV life sure beats sitting on the couch with the remote control
The people you meet when you're out on the road as an RVer are the ones who not only made the decision to change their lives, but they're also the ones who took action and made it happen. I like being around people who make things happen.
Whether you're hiking in the Appalachian Mountains, Rocky Mountains, deserts of the west, on a beach, or in a foreign country, there's so much to experience.
As an RVer, you get to experience all of these things (or just the ones you choose). You're free to roam and explore the world around you.
But first, you have to make the decision to do it, and then you have to make things happen. You'll have to get rid of most of your stuff, buy an RV, and then hit the road--full-time or part-time. You can always change your mind if you decide that the lifestyle is not suitable for you.
Here's another picture of freedom
Can you see yourself stopping here by the lake and eating lunch while you take in the view?
Bottom line: If you're not living the RVing lifestyle, let it be because you considered all of the facts and decided that it's not a life you would enjoy. By all means, don't let it be because you never made a decision, or even worse, you more or less made a decision but never made it happen.
Note: If you think you've seen the picture of a motorhome on the beach shown at the top of this article before, you have. I used that picture on the cover of one of my most popular books, Motorhome and RV Retirement Living. You can see the book in the right Nav. column if you're reading this on a computer. The right Nav. panel doesn't show up when you're viewing the article on a narrow cell phone screen.
